Prep Time: 20 minutes
Marination Time: 1 hour
Cook Time: 15-20 minutes
Ready Time: 1 hour 40 minutes (including marination and cooking time)
Ingredients:
- 250 grams paneer, cut into cubes
- 1 cup thick yogurt (hung curd)
- 2 tablespoons gram flour (besan)
- 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 1 teaspoon cumin powder
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- Salt to taste
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 1 medium-sized onion, cut into petals
- 1 medium-sized bell pepper (capsicum), cut into cubes
- Wooden skewers, soaked in water for 30 minutes
Instructions:
- In a mixing bowl, combine yogurt, gram flour, ginger-garlic paste, lemon juice, turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala, cumin powder, coriander powder, and salt. Mix well to form a smooth marinade.
- Add the paneer cubes to the marinade and gently coat them with the mixture. Let the paneer marinate for at least 1 hour in the refrigerator. This allows the flavors to penetrate the paneer.
- Preheat the grill or oven to medium-high heat.
- Thread the marinated paneer cubes onto the soaked wooden skewers, alternating with onion petals and bell pepper cubes.
- Brush the grill or baking tray with oil to prevent sticking.
- Place the paneer skewers on the grill or baking tray and cook for about 15-20 minutes, turning occasionally, until the paneer is golden brown and slightly charred on all sides. If using an oven, bake at 200°C (400°F) for 15-20 minutes or until cooked through.
- Remove the paneer tikka skewers from the grill or oven and let them cool slightly.
- Serve the paneer tikka hot with mint chutney and onion rings.
Note: You can also add other vegetables like cherry tomatoes or mushrooms to the skewers for variation.
