Oats chilla is a healthy and easy-to-make dish made with oats, vegetables, and spices. It is a nutritious option for breakfast or a light meal. Here’s a brief overview of the recipe, including cooking time, preparation time, ready time, and the list of ingredients:

Cooking time: 20 minutes Preparation time: 10 minutes Ready time: 30 minutes

Ingredients:
  • 1 cup oats (quick or rolled oats)
  • 1/2 cup gram flour (besan)
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onions
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped bell peppers (capsicum)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped coriander leaves
  • 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder (adjust to taste)
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as needed
  • Oil for cooking
Instructions:
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine oats, gram flour, onions, tomatoes, bell peppers, coriander leaves, ginger-garlic paste, cumin powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well.
  2. Gradually add water to the mixture while stirring continuously to make a smooth batter. The consistency should be similar to that of a pancake batter.
  3. Let the batter rest for about 10 minutes to allow the oats to absorb the liquid.
  4. Heat a non-stick skillet or tawa over medium heat and lightly grease it with oil.
  5. Pour a ladleful of the batter onto the center of the skillet and spread it in a circular motion to form a thin chilla.
  6. Drizzle a little oil around the edges of the chilla and cook until the bottom turns golden brown and crisp.
  7. Flip the chilla and cook the other side for a minute or until it is cooked through.
  8. Remove the chilla from the skillet and repeat the process with the remaining batter.
  9. Serve the oats chilla hot with chutney or yogurt.

Note: You can add other vegetables like grated carrots, spinach, or grated zucchini to the batter to make it more nutritious. Feel free to adjust the spice level and seasonings as per your preference. Enjoy the healthy and delicious oats chilla!
