Prep Time: 20 minutes
Cook Time: 15 minutes
Ready Time: 35 minutes
Ingredients:
- 500 grams squid (cleaned and cut into rings)
- 2 tablespoons ginger-garlic paste
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- Salt to taste
- Oil for frying
For the Marinade:
- 2 tablespoons yogurt
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- Salt to taste
For Garnish:
- Fresh coriander leaves (chopped)
- Lemon wedges
Instructions:
- In a mixing bowl, combine the squid rings with ginger-garlic paste, red chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, garam masala, lemon juice, and salt. Mix well to coat the squid evenly. Let it marinate for about 15-20 minutes.
- In another bowl, whisk together yogurt, lemon juice, red chili powder, turmeric powder, and salt to make the marinade.
- Add the marinated squid to the yogurt marinade and mix well. Let it marinate for an additional 10 minutes.
- Heat oil in a frying pan or skillet over medium heat.
- Once the oil is hot, carefully add the marinated squid rings to the pan, ensuring they are evenly spread out. Fry them in batches to avoid overcrowding the pan.
- Cook the squid for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until they turn golden brown and crispy. Be careful not to overcook as squid can become chewy if cooked for too long.
- Remove the fried squid from the pan and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- Repeat the frying process with the remaining batches of squid until all are cooked.
- Garnish the fried squid with freshly chopped coriander leaves and serve hot with lemon wedges.
Note: You can adjust the spice levels by increasing or decreasing the amount of red chili powder according to your preference.
