  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnishing
Instructions:
  1. Heat oil in a pan or kadai over medium heat.
  2. Add the mustard seeds and cumin seeds. Let them splutter.
  3. Add the finely chopped onions and green chili. Sauté until the onions turn translucent.
  4. Add the finely chopped tomatoes and cook until they become soft and mushy.
  5. Add the turmeric powder, red chili powder (if using), garam masala, and salt. Mix well to combine the spices with the onions and tomatoes.
  6. Add the bread pieces to the pan and toss them gently to coat them evenly with the spice mixture.
  7. Cook the bread pieces for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they become slightly crispy.
  8. Remove from heat and garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
  9. Bread Upma is now ready to be served.
