BBQ chicken is a popular dish made with chicken that has been marinated in a flavorful BBQ sauce and then grilled, baked or smoked until the chicken is cooked through and the skin is crispy and caramelized.
Here is a simple recipe for BBQ chicken:
Prep time: 10 minutes
Cook time: 20-30 minutes
Total time: 30-40 minutes
Serves: 4-6
Ingredients:
- 6 chicken thighs or drumsticks, bone-in and skin-on
- 1 cup BBQ sauce (homemade or store-bought)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 tsp smoked paprika
- 2 tsp garlic powder
- 2 tsp onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
- Preheat grill to medium-high heat or preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a small bowl, mix together the BBQ sauce, olive oil, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Brush the BBQ sauce mixture generously over the chicken thighs or drumsticks, making sure to coat both sides.
- Grill the chicken for 10-15 minutes per side, or until the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 165°F (74°C) when tested with a meat thermometer. If baking in the oven, place the chicken on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 20-30 minutes or until cooked through.
- Once the chicken is cooked through, remove from heat and let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
- Serve the BBQ chicken with extra BBQ sauce on the side and enjoy!
Note: You can also marinate the chicken in the BBQ sauce mixture for several hours or overnight for even more flavor.
