Egg Biryani is a flavorful and aromatic Indian rice dish made with boiled eggs, fragrant spices, and basmati rice. It is a perfect one-pot meal and can be served with raita, papad, and pickle. Here’s a recipe for Egg Biryani:

Preparation Time: 20 minutes
Ready Time: 50-60 minutes

Ingredients:
  • 2 cups basmati rice
  • 4 boiled eggs
  • 2 onions, sliced
  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 2 green chilies, slit
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala powder
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro leaves
  • Salt to taste
  • 3 tbsp oil
  • 2 tbsp ghee
  • 2 cups water
Instructions:
  1. Soak the basmati rice in water for 20-30 minutes.
  2. In a pot, heat oil and ghee over medium heat and add sliced onions. Fry until they turn golden brown and crispy.
  3. Add ginger-garlic paste and green chilies, sauté for a minute.
  4. Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they become soft and mushy.
  5. Add red chili powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, and garam masala powder. Mix well.
  6. Add plain yogurt and stir continuously until everything is well combined.
  7. Add chopped cilantro leaves and salt to taste.
  8. Add boiled eggs and coat them with the mixture. Remove from heat.
  9. In another pot, boil 2 cups of water and add soaked basmati rice.
  10. Cook until the rice is about 70-80% done and strain the excess water.
  11. In a large pot, add a layer of the egg masala mixture at the bottom, followed by a layer of rice. Repeat until all the rice and egg mixture have been used up.
  12. Cover the pot and cook on low heat for 10-15 minutes or until the rice is fully cooked.
  13. Garnish with fried onions, cilantro leaves, and boiled eggs.
